Hey,
Happy Wednesday!
Doyou look like your dog?
It’s said that some people do. I don’t, but when my dog was a puppy we used to go to local fairs that had just-for-fun dog shows— and he and my wife once came fourth place in the “dog that looks most like its owner” category.
She doesn’t see the resemblance, but they’re both blonde and drool when they’re hungry. (One of those is true.)
Shockingly, he didn't even place in "cutest puppy", which was a travesty of justice. Just look at him back then!
As I say, I look nothing like him, but we do share some personalitytraits. We both suffer from anxiety, both love to run, and are both idiots much of the time.
We also share a deep love ofeating.
I imagine this is a common similarity between people and their dogs, but according to new research from the University of Cambridge, in some cases thelink is genetic.

It shows that some dogs (and people) have to work harder to keep the weight off. As one of the researchers said, “Owners of slim dogs are not morally superior — and the same is true of slim people."
However, a genetic reason won’t protect your dog from the horrendous, life-threatening illnesses caused by obesity such as diabetes, cancer, heart disease and joint issues. Research like this might lead to scientists developing methods to help people control their dog’s weight (and their own). But, for now, the best way is through discipline:
